Forging Mainly Used In Automobile General Machinery And Other Parts

Forging is one of the two main components of forging (forging and stamping), which is used to exert pressure on metal billet to produce plastic deformation to obtain a certain mechanical property, shape and dimension forging. The forging can eliminate the defects such as the loose cast in the smelting process, optimize the microstructure, and the mechanical properties of the forgings are generally superior to those of the same material because the complete metal streamline is preserved. The important parts with high load and severe working conditions in the related machinery, besides the simple shape can be used for rolling plate, profile or welding parts, the forging is more adopted.

The starting recrystallization temperature of the steel is about 727 ℃, but the 800℃ is widely used as the dividing line, and the heat forging is higher than 800 ℃, which is called the cold forging at room temperature, which is known as forging or semi heat forging in 300~800℃. The forgings used in most industries are hot forged, forging and cold forged for the forging of parts such as automobiles and general machinery, forging and cold forging can be effective sections.

Forging materials are mainly carbon and alloy steels of various components, followed by aluminum, magnesium, copper, titanium and other alloys. The original state of the material has rods, ingots, metal powders and liquid metals. The ratio of the transverse area of metal before deformation to the transverse area after deformation is called forging ratio. It is very important to choose forging ratio, reasonable heating temperature and holding time, reasonable initial forging temperature and final forging temperature, reasonable deformation and deformation speed to improve product quality and reduce cost.

Ordinary medium and small forgings are made of round or square rods. The grain microstructure and mechanical properties of the bar are uniform, good, accurate in shape and size, good in surface quality and easy to organize mass production. As long as reasonable control of heating temperature and deformation conditions, no need for large forging deformation can forge a good performance of forgings.

Ingots are used only for large forgings. The ingot is a cast-state structure with larger columnar crystals and a loose center. Therefore, it is necessary to obtain fine metal microstructure and mechanical properties through large plastic deformation, crushing columnar crystals into fine grains and compacting them.

The sintered powder Metallurgy preform can be made into powder forgings under hot state without fly-edge die forging. The forging powder is close to the density of the general Die Forgings, has good mechanical properties and high precision, which can reduce the subsequent machining. The internal organization of powder forgings is homogeneous, without segregation, and can be used to manufacture small gears and other workpieces. However, the price of powder is much higher than that of the general bar, and the application in production is limited.

The static pressure exerted on the liquid metal pouring in the mold chamber can be obtained by solidification, crystallization, flow, plastic deformation and forming under the action of pressure. The liquid metal die forging is a forming method between die casting and die forging, especially suitable for complex thin-walled parts which are difficult to be formed in general die forging.

Forged materials, in addition to the usual material, such as carbon and alloy steels of various components, the second is aluminum, magnesium, copper, titanium and other alloys, iron-based high-temperature alloy, nickel-based high-temperature alloy, cobalt-based superalloy deformation alloy is also used in forging or rolling, but these alloys due to their relatively narrow plastic zone, so the forging difficulty will be relatively large , the heating temperature of different materials, the open forging temperature and the final forging temperature have strict requirements.

Different forging methods have different processes, in which the process of hot die forging is the longest, the general order is: Forging blank, forging billet heating, roll forging preparation, die forging, trimming, punching, correcting, intermediate inspection, inspecting the dimension and surface defect of forgings, forging heat treatment, eliminating forging stress and improving metal cutting performance. Clean up, The main thing is to remove the surface oxide skin, rectify, check, general forgings to undergo appearance and hardness inspection, important forgings also undergo chemical composition analysis, mechanical properties, residual stress testing and nondestructive testing.
